Lefkada is the fourth in size island of the Heptanese Archipelago - the group of Seven Ionian Islands. Together with the small islets of Meganisi, Kalamos, Kastos, and the Prinkeponesia (Madouri, Skorpios, Skopidi, Cheloni, Sparti, Tsokari) it comprises the province of Lefkada; the province's capital is the homonymous town of Lefkada.
Apart from easy access by sea, Lefkada offers visitors the opportunity to reach the island by a land route via a floating bridge of some 50 metres in length which joins the island to Mainland Greece.
In the western part of the island are found its most renowned beaches, Kathisma, Porto Katsiki, Egkremnoi, and Gyalos. Each year , these spectacular beaches make the top lists of the best natural beaches in the world. In general, the coastline of Lefkada is of great interest, giving travellers the chance to discover all its beaches and small harbour sites either by land, or by sea.
Lefkada is the kind of island you just can’t visit only once. It will remain indelible in your memory for its unique beaches, easy access, fascinating traditions, good food, and for the many more wonderful things it has to offer.
